A Holter monitor is a portable device that records your heart activity (ECG) for 24 to 48 hours or more depending on the type of monitoring. It comes in the size of a small camera having wires that are attached to your skin.
When you have an irregular heartbeat, you are asked to wear a Holter monitor to check your heartbeat. Sometimes, doctors refer such monitoring to see the improvements of the condition after a medication. Wearing this monitor is not painful. It makes your doctor understand whether you need further treatments and medicines or not.
Once the technicians attach electrodes to your chest, they give you a suggestion on how to take care of it. You can do your regular activities wearing this monitor with some exceptions like don’t bathe and stay away from the high-voltage area.
