Dr Dharmesh Anand
Dr Dharmesh Anand is Consultant Cardiologist at the Mater Hospital and a Senior Staff Specialist at the Townsville University Hospital. Dr Anand graduated with Honours from Patna University, India. He obtained postgraduate qualification in General Medicine and then trained in Cardiology at one of India’s premier cardiac centres, the Escorts Heart Institute, New Delhi. He worked as Consultant Cardiologist in India and Bahrain, before moving to Australia. During the course of his Fellowship in Australia he worked at the St. George Hospital in Sydney and the Wollongong Hospital before establishing his practice in Townsville.
Dr Anand is vastly experienced and has been offering private consultation in the region since 2013. His areas of interest are clinical cardiology, echocardiography, valvular heart disease, heart failure and cardiac rehabilitation. He is highly proficient in Echocardiography (2D & 3D Transthoracic and Transoesophageal Echocardiography). Additionally, his special skills include Exercise and Dobutamine Stress Echocardiography. Dr. Anand routinely performs coronary angiograms and has received specialised training in CT Coronary Angiography at the UCLA Medical Centre in Los Angeles.
Dr. Anand’s commitment extends beyond clinical practice to encompass teaching and research, with a particular focus on clinical cardiology. He serves as a Supervisor for Advanced Cardiology Training and holds the position of Adjunct Senior Clinical Lecturer at James Cook University.
Dr Anand is fluent in both English and Hindi, which enables him to effectively communicate with a diverse range of patients. He believes in empowering his patients through education, ensuring they understand their conditions and treatment options.
